Cybercom invited to the Government Offices of Sweden
On 29th of September Cybercom and Niklas Flyborg were invited by the Government Offices of Sweden to an expert seminar to discuss Sweden's strategy for the European Green Deal and increased and strengthened competitiveness. The European Green Deal is the initiative where EU strive to be the first climate-neutral continent.
What’s Cybercom’s role as a digitalisation consultancy company when it comes to achieve the set goals of the European Green Deal?
“Digitalisation will be a vital tool when planning and implementing solutions that supports the EU Green Deal. Best effect will come from moving focus from footprint to handprint, and build solutions and processes that are transformative. These solutions may cover many industries and/or countries. These solutions may also boost collaboration over boarders and avoid silo boundaries, which have a positive value by itself.
By digitising businesses, we can move from a reduction focus (footprint) to a more of a solution focus (handprint), and it is important to start to measure avoided emissions in this work. To take these transformative steps, the support from governments will be important,” says Niklas Flyborg, CEO at Cybercom.
A Swedish strategy for managing the European Green Deal must be based on finding a strategy for politics and business to jointly create the necessary conditions. There are many good examples of the initiative and innovation capacity of industry and business. Good examples are the fossil free roadmaps developed by different industries based on how competitiveness and green conversion can be addressed. What they also have in common is that they clearly describe the conditions required for us to be able to combine sustainability with competitiveness.
Another example of innovation capacity of industry and business is the Mission Innovations Net-Zero Compatible Innovations Initiative created by RISE and Climate KIC in collaboration with Cybercom which promotes solutions that answers: How can we use the current crisis as an opportunity to bring long-lasting change towards a better climate after the virus crisis has ended?
More about the expert seminar
The industrial call held in May 2020, which focused on the EU's industrial strategy in the shadow of the corona crisis, stated that the recovery should be green and digital. Investing in electrification, energy storage and hydrogen were discussed. In addition, raw material supply will still be important and that the supply of safe and green energy must be ensured in the long term were other messages from the industrial companies. It was considered valuable to continue this discussion with the connection between sustainability and competitiveness at the next industry meeting.
The expert seminar was arranged by the Government Offices of Sweden, Industrirådet (The industry Council) and Almega – the Employers’ Organisation for the Swedish Service Sector.
